More people to be offered the vaccine as local NHS hits its targets

Having successfully offered the vaccine to all those in the top four priority groups, the NHS in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin has now started vaccinating people aged 65 to 69 and those who are clinically vulnerable to COVID.
covid-19 nhs will contact you

Letters are being sent from the National Booking Service inviting people aged over 65 to book an appointment at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or by calling 119 anytime between 7am and 11pm seven days a week.

GP practices are focusing on contacting those people who are on the Shielded Patient List, and those who are housebound for medical reasons.

Should somebody aged 65 to 69 want to wait to be called by their local GP vaccination service, or if they have already received the jab, they do not need to respond to their invitation letter.

Angie Wallace, Programme Director for the Covid Vaccination Service for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, said: “This is another significant step in getting through this pandemic.

“I’m really proud of our teams, our staff and volunteers across all our local health and care organisations, who have worked tirelessly together in helping us hit our target of offering the vaccine to all those in the top four priority groups.

“However, if anyone out there from these groups hasn’t yet received an invitation, maybe they’re not registered to a GP or have recently moved home, it’s important they make themselves known to us.”

Anyone aged 70 or above or clinically extremely vulnerable who hasn’t been contacted by the NHS already can arrange a vaccination through the national booking service which can be accessed at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or by calling 119.

Frontline health and care staff can also now choose to use the national booking service, online or by phone, to arrange a vaccination appointment.
