We decided, as one of its focused activities in 2018, to carry out a “General Practice Roadshow” format review of General Practitioner Practices in Telford & Wrekin.
When the NHS Long Term Plan was published in January 2019 Healthwatch England were asked by NHS England to engage with people across the country to find out what the public thought the NHS should prioritise over the next decade.
To find out if patients were treated with dignity, have privacy respected, and how staff respond appropriately and with compassion to meet healthcare needs. To include those with Dementia looking at the environment, accessibility compassionate care.
We wanted to find out how residents dignity and independence was being respected and supported in the Care Home environment. We want to identify examples of good practices and hear about any ideas the residents or staff may have for change.
We wanted to engage with residents to find out how their dignity and independence was being respected and supported in the Care Home environment. Also, we want to hear about their experiences and those of any relatives and visitors present.
We wanted to find out how dignity, respect, quality of life and independence was being respected and supported in the care environment, and how those living with Dementia are supported.
The purpose of the visit was to ask residents about their views and experiences of the Home, care services. Including finding out how support is offered to residents living with Dementia.
